I Want To Be Diaper Free!

When do I start? It's probably the most commonly asked question about potty training. The expert answer is probably "when your child is ready."

We experimented with infant potty training, which may sound radical or impractical to many parents, but we have been quite successful in our attempt and our son clearly likes to be diaper-free.

We noticed when he was only several days old that our baby would make a special face whenever he wanted to poop. So we followed his body signs and let him release in a container instead of a diaper. Later on we started to time how often he pees at different times of the day and potty trained him accordingly.

Not surprisingly we had a lot of funny, stinky accidents, but by he was 7 months old, our son had become used to sitting on his bear-shaped potty and doing his business there. Now he only needs to wear diapers during the night. Fewer and fewer accidents happen when he is diaper-free or in cloth diaper during the day. I can't remember how many times he tried to take off the disposables that we had to put him in when we went out together. Babies know it's more comfortable to stay dry and we as parents could make the effort to help them be freed from diapers as early as possible.

A Different Kind of Chocolate-A Guiltless Treat

I can never resist the temptation of chocolate, so I jumped on the opportunity to test out the TerraPass Climate Change Chocolate, the first of its kind in the chocolate kingdom. For the first time in my life, I can feel good about eating chocolate not only because it pleases my taste buds but also because I'm treating our planet while treating myself! How can that be? My initial reaction to the name was: what's the connection between chocolate and climate change? It's beyond my wildest imagination. I got the answer from the packaging: For every chocolate bar purchased TerraPass will purchase 133 lbs of verified carbon offsets (which is the average American's daily carbon impact on the planet). No wonder it's noted as "chocolate with a daily dose of carbon offsets." What a novel way to help save our planet!

I received two flavors of chocolate bars to sample: milk chocolate and dark chocolate. They are both of premium quality...simply delicious!!! Hubby and I were practically fighting for the last square off each bar. They were GONE within a few minutes! Hubby kept asking where we could buy more of these. I love the creamy silky texture. I also love that it's not very sweet. Am I being weired? I love sweets that are not sweet:)

In additon, the Climate Change Chocolate has very interesting wrappers! They are made of recycled paper and decorated with 15 colorfully illustrated tips for reducing your carbon footprint. Here's my favorite: Hanging your washing outside on a fine day instead of using the clothes dryer saves electricty and money too! This is so true. I often wish there were more space/facilities that allow us to air dry our laundry.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all current and future moms! How did you celebrate this special holiday? I just came back from my parents' place. My dear mom and my son's mom (oh yeah, that's me) not only received lovely flowers, but got to take a full day off household chores! Hubby cooked Salmon for dinner and the little guy played music for us with his LeapFrog guitar. I wish every day were Mother's Day!

New Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion Review

Dry skin is one of my biggest enemies in life. I'm constantly on the lookout for a gentle and effective moisturizer. Skin MD Natural is not an entirely new name to me as I've read quite a few positive reviews of the Original Formula Shielding Lotion by other moms. I have noticed that my skin felt tense and dehydrated whenever I skipped applying the conventional lotion. In contrast, the goal of a shielding lotion is to enhance our skin's "natural protective abilities" by forming a protective hydrating shield with the outer layer of skin. It not only helps keep out moisture-robbing irritants and dangerous toxins, but also helps retain natural oils and moisture in our skin. While conventional lotion only provides temporary relief from dry skin problems, shielding lotion offers a long-term solution!

Besides being a revolutionary skin care product, the Skin MD Natural lotion is non-greasy, fast-absorbing, and light in texture. With added sun protection benefit, the new lotion makes a great daytime moisturizer. The 4 oz. bottle is easy to fit in a purse and be carried around. Frankly speaking, the new lotion is not as inexpensive as I would like. But considering all that it has to offer beyond conventional lotions, the little extra investment is well justified.

Handed Down From My Mom

Mother's Day is just around the corner. Not until I became a mom myself (about 1 year ago) did I start to fully understand what it takes to be a good mom. To celebrate this special holiday for moms, I'd like to thank my dear mom for all that she has handed down to me!

When I was a little girl, I often felt hurt when someone told me that I didn't look like my mom. My mom is so beautiful. I want to be her! But now I feel so blessed that my mom has handed down so much to me to make me a better person. Like her, I'm optimistic about the future. That may partly explains why I love entering giveaways;). She taught me not to waste things and to live frugally. That's why I can proudly say that I'm debt-free. She showed me the importance of being an independent and responsible woman. That helped me earn respect, trust, friendship, and even love (in the case of my husband) from others. There are a lot more things, small and big, that my mom has handed down to me, which I will not laundry list today.

I just wonder how often you have said Thank you or I love you to your mom? I know that I've taken her love for granted for so long that I haven't said those lovely words as often as I should. I'll start working on that!
