My Review:
Fueled by a father's love for his daughter, Mimi & Ary is an educative and entertaining picture book about growth, independence, courage, friendship, health and safety.
Eager to share his knowledge with someone, Ary the bird is excited to spot Mimi, who mysteriously gets lost in the jungle. Together, they embark on a mission to reunite Mimi with her parents. Ary takes the opportunity to introduce Mimi to his jungle friends, give her a crash course on outdoor survival skills, and offer her valuable advice on various topics.
Told mainly through short conversations, the story is easy to follow and understand. Ary is impressively resourceful and chatty. Mimi has a lot to learn from him and so do the readers of this book. As they follow Ary and Mimi around, young readers gain knowledge about wild plants and animals, safety tips, and self-care skills. They are encouraged to eat healthy, keep an open mind, engage in more screen-free activities, and be adventurous and cautious at the same time. Ary and Mimi also discuss what true friendship entails, how to overcome fear, and whether to trust someone with issues in the past.
