Odette's Alphabet Blog Tour: Review and Prize Pack Giveaway

All work and no play not only makes Jack a dull boy, but also makes Odette a stressed and unhappy bee. Find out how Odette learns to relax and recharge through meditation in Sandrine Marlier's picture book Odette's Alphabet. Enter to win a copy and a $25 Amazon gift card!

My Review:

Combining the alphabet with an enlightening adventure and interactive activities, Odette's Alphabet is an uplifting book about mindfulness, kindness, friendship, problem-solving and self-discovery. In spite of her love for her community of hard-working bees, Odette feels really down one morning and decides to leave home for a change. While enjoying sunlight and fresh air outside, she runs into a little mouse named Marcus, who has trouble finding his way home. Odette volunteers to help. Will she make it? Will she go back to her colony with something new?

What sets this book apart from other alphabet books about mindfulness is that it helps readers understand mindful thinking in the context of a heartwarming story. The words selected for the alphabet are mostly simple, commonly used words with positive connotations that go beyond mindful concepts. The activities that follow are fun, engaging, and easy to do. They teach about various breathing techniques and thought exercises related to meditation. My son and I felt truly relaxed and happy after completing the activities as instructed. The soothing, soft-hued illustrations well complement the story's theme and add cuteness to the characters.

As they follow along Odette's life-changing journey, young readers are encouraged to get connected with nature through their five senses, to discover their passion and talent through exploration and experimentation, and to handle fear or stress with courage and optimism, as well as through ways to calm down and find inner peace.

Filled with joy, love and peace, this book will brighten up your day and bring out your best!
