My Review:

Written with humor and wild imagination, The Girl and Her Noble Steed is a hilarious and heartwarming book about faith, friendship, sportsmanship, resolve and goodwill. The story centers around an energetic, kind-hearted, pious and fearless young girl named Ofe. Ofe is determined to win the Race for Little Ginos not only because she's got talent and passion for the animal-riding sport, but also because she desperately needs the prize money to save the beloved orphanage she grows up in from being shut down due to lack of funds. She manages to get grumpy former champion Borko onboard as her trainer, who brings along his speedy yet clumsy donkey Zo. Does the trio have what it takes to pull off a big win?

From funny-sounding words to comical illustrations, the book certainly has what it takes to charm and entertain fun-loving readers. Cleverly fusing important values into an amusing adventure, it teaches about kindness, fairness, gratitude, bravery, determination, and problem-solving. Young readers may resonate with Ofe and be inspired to follow their dreams, stand up for their beliefs, and contribute to the common good. Meanwhile, the dynamic relationships between Ofe and Zo, and Ofe and Borko demonstrate how friends could help bring out the best in each other.

About the Author
I think I became a writer because the world inside my head was so real and vivid, sometimes more so than the outside world. In some sense I have lived parallel lives, present in my real and imaginary lives in different ways. Because much of my childhood was spent searching for faeries or reading about them, it is natural that my work would encompass faerie tale themes and other magical elements. In the words of Tennessee Williams, forget reality, give me magic!

Adrienne has previously published short stories in The Storyteller, Beginnings Magazine, New Plains Review, and in the e-zines A Fly in Amber, Grim Graffiti, Les Bonnes Fees, The Altruist, The Devilfish Review, and Rose Red Review. Her short story, Falling was awarded second place in the 2008 Alice Munro short fiction contest. To Dance in Liradon is her first published novel.

An avid reader of fairy tales and other magical stories, a thread of the mysterious or unexpected runs through all of her work. When she’s not writing Adrienne can be found searching for faeries along with her daughters Callista and Juliet.

Now based in San Mateo, CA, she writes the Riga Hayworth series of paranormal mysteries, blending her experiences and imagination to create a vivid world of magic and mayhem.
