The Charlie Chaloosy book series kicks off with its inaugural offering, Charlie Chaloosy is Often Quite Choosy.

The first book focuses on Charlie's experiences as he learns lessons, gains new experiences, and grows up in a world that happens to rhyme. The story is told through the use of a playful rhyme scheme and enhanced with beautifully colored illustrations of Charlie tackling new adventures in whimsical detail. The book ends with Charlie providing two pages for the reader to become an author by writing their own story.

My Review:

Featuring adorable characters and colorful, engaging pictures, Charlie Chaloosy is Often Quite Choosy is a fun-filled and educational rhyming read that addresses young children's fear about trying something new. Charlie is very particular about what he eats, wears and does every day. Sticking to his favorite things exclusively however, poses a challenge for him to make friends. Feeling the need to expand his likes, Charlie starts to try new things, from food to activities. Guess what he finds out?

Through relatable characters and scenarios, the book tells an enjoyable story while teaching useful life lessons. The fanciful, expressive illustrations add in a wealth of details that would fascinate young readers and make them chuckle with delight. 

The contrast in Charlie before and after he makes the changes showcases the incredible joy of adventure, encouraging little ones to overcome their fears and experience something different from their regulars. Moreover, the story ends with a hearty invite for the readers to write and illustrate their own stories in the space provided at the back.

Easy and fun to read, this makes a pleasant pick for budding bookworms. I look forward to seeing more books coming in the Charlie Chaloosy series.
