My Review
Greystone Secrets 3: The Messengers presents an expertly written, well-paced story with a thrilling blend of mystery, fantasy and science fiction. Through gripping twists and turns and relatable, life-like characters, the book draws the reader deeply inside a world full of action and suspense. As a finale in the trilogy, this book is better understood if read after the first two in the series. I haven't had the chance to read any of the previous books. But thankfully, the author provides sufficient references through the characters' thoughts and words to help me put all the pieces together. This book certainly makes me want to read the entire series!
The author is very good at building suspense and keeping the reader busy wondering what could happen next. How can the kids decipher the secret codes on the coins? Who can they trust and team up with? Will they be able to outsmart technology and overpower the evil forces? As if lost in a misty forest, the reader feels the urge to search carefully for the bread crumbs scattered around in order to find the way out, alongside the characters trapped in danger.
With a solid focus on sibling relationships, the book encourages deeper thinking about the value of family, friendship, teamwork and justice. By revealing the challenges associated with truth-finding, it helps youngsters realize the complexity of the real world and prompts them to become perceptive thinkers and problem-solvers. The story also shows the power of knowledge, love and kindness. If you love solving puzzles and unraveling mysteries as much as I do, you are guaranteed to have tremendous fun reading The Messengers. I really look forward to discovering more wonderful works from its talented author.

Margaret Peterson Haddix grew up on a farm in Ohio. As a kid, she knew two girls who had the exact same first, middle, and last names and shared the same birthday—only one year apart—and she always thought that was bizarre.
As an adult, Haddix worked as a newspaper reporter and copy editor in Indiana before her first book, Running Out of Time, was published. She has since written more than forty books for kids and teens, including the Greystone Secrets series, the Shadow Children series, the Missing series, the Children of Exile series, and lots of stand-alones.
