My Review:
When the Sun Met the Moon is a short and pleasant read, featuring rhyming text, artful illustration, and heartwarming messages. As a huge fan of the Sun, my little one used to ask me why the Sun has to disappear at night. I explained to him that the Sun would be too tired to work around the clock, so the Moon works the night shift to let the Sun rest and recharge. But the Sun still lends part of its light to the Moon during its sleep. Interestingly, this book seems to confirm my explanation somewhat, while the relationship between the Sun and the Moon is viewed through the lens of love and romance. The Sun has to work non-stop before he meets the Moon. Whenever he goes on vacation, the Earth goes into complete darkness. Things start to change when the Sun finally finds the love of his life.
It was love at first sight
And the rest was history
The Moon was the keeper of his night
And the Sun her golden key.
The illustrations of the book are truly impressive. Using vibrant and contrasting colors, they bring out the beauty of the Universe. My favorite scene is when the Sun and Moon gets married, with all the stars showering down around them. I love that the story shows how the Sun and Moon complements and supports each other through their relationship. This is when one plus one is greater than two. My son loves reading the story, although I doubt if he gets all the underlying messages. But I'm sure they will get through over time. What matters most is that the book is a fun read that provides a loving way to think about how the Universe works.

Simran Mohinani, otherwise known as Simi Moh, was born on September 8th, 1998. She is a graduate of Northeastern University, studying entrepreneurship with a minor in global fashion. She was born and raised in Hong Kong, and now lives between there, London, and Boston. She first worked for the United Nations with their environmental conservation team before also collaborating with Amazon, Marriott, and Snupps. She published her first trilogy of books comprised of poetry and short stories which are very successful. She now owns and runs three of her own businesses in the fields of consulting, denim supply, and commercial goods. She also has her own charity: The SiMission. After college, she also worked full-time at her family business, which deals with properties in Europe. On the side, she still loves to write, which came to fruition with When the Sun Met the Moon, for your enjoyment and pleasure.
