Have you ever told your child to think outside the box, but found yourself scratching your head when asked to explain what it really means? Justine Avery's new picture book Think Outside the Box will help you out. Check it out and enter to win one of many prizes offered by the author!
My Review:
To think outside the box is easier said than done. Think Outside the Box not only encourages young readers to think creatively, but also lays out situations that call for creative thinking and translates the somewhat abstract concept into concrete examples that are easier for the little ones to comprehend.
The book first offers thinking outside the box as the solution to various kinds of problems we encounter in life, and then it focuses on a detailed and vivid explanation of the phrase by suggesting actions that can be considered as thinking outside the box. Some of my favorites include "eating an ice cream cone from the bottom up," "coloring outside the lines-on purpose," "being proud of your mistakes [b]ecause they're just as valuable as every time you get things out."
Besides its easy-to-understand, colloquial language, the book helps young readers get a better idea of thinking outside the box through colorful, humorous illustrations featuring fun shapes and funny images. Think Outside the Box is an inspiring, charming read for children and adults alike, for its clear message about creativity, problem-solving and independent thinking applies to everyone!
