Geared for students K-8, the Spectrum series provide state standards-aligned lessons and exercises that cover a broad range of essential subjects and skills, including math, reading, writing, language arts, phonics, sight words, spelling, vocabulary, science, and more. Each workbook is available in both print and electronic forms.
The Carson-Dellosa Publishing Group kindly invited me to sample some of their Spectrum workbooks. I picked Match, Writing and Language Arts. First of all, I'm impressed with the quality of paper and printing of the workbooks. The font size is good for the eyes and the colorful presentation is appealing to children in the target age group.
Each workbook is well organized with focused exercises of increasing difficulty. The Math workbook includes mid-term and final tests for a more comprehensive understanding of the key points covered in previous chapters. The Writing workbook features quite a few interesting exercises that encourage students to think and write more logically, and to feel more comfortable about expressing their thoughts and observations in writing. My son also had lots of fun completing exercises and activities in the Language Arts workbook. He learned a lot about grammar and proper use of language without realizing it.
From my experience, the Spectrum workbooks make a trustworthy study companion to any K-8 student. They help reinforce and enrich what students are learning at school. They are also a great tool for homeschoolers. Not sure which workbook is right for your child? Download free samples of your choice to find the one that offers the best fit.
