Happy Valentine's Day! It's all the more important to keep our loved ones safe and healthy during this flu season. One of the most effective preventative measures is to wash our hands often. But when it is not possible to wash off those nasty germs, Kleenex Germ Removal Wet Wipes would come in handy. It's a great idea to keep a pack in your purse or in your car so that you can reach for the wipes when your hands need to be cleaned while on the go.

Live Clean Hand Soap Prize Pack Giveaway {Jeepers! It's January! Giveaway Hop}

Happy New Year! Have you resolved to take better care of yourself and your family in the new year? Handwashing is known as one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs and to keep us from getting sick. Clean hands can save lives. Studies have shown that diarrheal illnesses can be reduced by 50% just by frequent hand washing and that respiratory illnesses can be reduced by close to 20% with hand washing. Washing your hands may sound simple, but did you know that 95% of people aren't washing their hands properly? It takes at least 15-20 seconds of vigorous hand washing with soap and water to remove enough of the harmful bacteria that spreads disease. Besides proper handwashing techniques, you would also want to use hand soaps that are free from harsh chemicals, such as those from Live Clean.

Composed with certified organic extracts and 98% renewable & sustainable plant-based ingredients, Live Clean Hand Soaps are cruelty-free, SLS free, phthalate free and paraben free. They are available in three delicious flavors: Coconut Milk, Argan Oil and Fresh Water.

My favorite of the three flavor varieties is the Live Clean Coconut Milk Moisturing Hand Soap. It smells amazing and it keeps my hands clean and moisturized. The bottle is beautifully designed to make a pleasant addition to my bathroom. Live Clean Hydrating Argan Oil Hand Soap features 100% pure Argan Oil to nourish and replenish the skin for improved texture and tone, while certified organic botanicals of Grape Seed and Olive Leaf Extracts help to protect the skin’s moisture barrier. And Live Clean Fresh Water Hydrating Liquid Hand Soap blends Vitamin E, Panthenol, and certified organic botanicals of Rosemary and Chamomile for optimal hydration.

Stay Hydrated with Pedialyte and Exclusive Savings

With cold and flu season in full swing, it is important to keep your family care kit filled with all the essential items such as Pedialyte Liters or Powder Packs. Hydration is necessary to keep our bodies function properly. It is needed even more when we are sick and at the risk of losing vital fluids. But keeping the kids hydrated can be challenging at times, as they tend to favor sugary drinks that do not really help prevent dehydration. Pedialyte offers the perfect solution that meets medical guidelines, with flavors that appeal to children.

Our family got hit hard by the flu a couple of weeks ago. As the only one who didn't get caught, I was fully occupied with taking care of my husband and kids, who had been suffering from symptoms like high fever, vomiting and coughing. When I consulted our family doctor for advice, he stressed repeatedly on the importance of keeping everyone hydrated. Having Pedialyte on hand makes me feel like a smart mom because my kids think of Pedialyte as a special treat and are more than willing to take it when their bodies are in serious need of rehydration. Pedialyte is available in liquid, powder packs and freezer pops. We buy the 1-liter bottles most often, with Strawberry and Mixed Fruit being the kids' top choices.
Unlike soda, juice, or sports drinks that are too high in sugar and too low in sodium, Pedialyte is medically formulated with an optimal balance of sugar and sodium, an important electrolyte lost due to diarrhea and vomiting, to promote fluid absorption and help restore the body's potassium, sodium and chloride minerals, also known as electrolytes. I am not at all surprised to learn that Pedialyte is the #1 pediatrician-recommended oral electrolyte solution and the #1 pharmacist recommended brand for hydration.

Walmart is where we normally shop for Pedialyte, as they have the best everyday prices and a good variety of flavors, including Strawberry, Grape, Mixed Fruit, Bubble Bum, and unflavored (for infants). Pedialyte is very easy to find in the baby section at our local Walmart store. I also spotted the new Pedialyte AdvancedCare in Cherry Punch flavor during my recent visit. More forms and flavors of Pedialyte products are available at Walmart.com.

Want to stock up and save on Pedialyte? Be sure to click the picture above to access the exclusive savings offer from ibotta, which provides a $2 rebate on any variety of 2 one-liter bottles of Pedialyte.

Pedialyte is not only useful when someone is sick, but it also helps combat dehydration due to exercise, heat exhaustion or travel. And it works for both children and adults! I strongly suggest you keeping a few Pedialyte products on hand so that you can use them to help everyone in the family stay hydrated both at home and on the go, any time of the year!

Disclosure: I have been compensated by Pedialyte for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts. All opinions are my own.

GoGargle! Prize Pack Review & Giveaway (CVS Gift Card Included)

Can you see and smell spring where you live? Well, one downside of the change of season is that it is often accompanied by abrupt shifts in temperature and increased likelihood of catching a cold. It is best to get treatment for a cold at the first signs that your body gives you, such as a sore throat. If you don't like the idea of taking medicine for light symptoms, then natural remedies are the way to go and they often prove to be pretty effective at nipping the cold in the bud.

Gargling with salt water is a time-tested remedy for sore throats due to the healing power of salt and its effect on inflamed or infected skin. Now you can do it more easily and more enjoyably with GoGargle!. Featuring a proprietary blend of honey, chamomile and 14 other ingredients, GoGargle! tablets dissolve fast in warm water and offer instant relief for sore or irritated throat.  The special blend of salts reduces painful inflammation and bacteria in the back of your throat, while the aloe, chamomile, honey and zinc soothe and moisturize it.

To use GoGargle!, just drop 1 tablet into 1/2 cup of warm water; wait until it dissolve completely; swish around mouth and then gargle in the back of throat for 15-30 seconds; spit out the liquid; and repeat the swishing and gargling until all liquid is used. You can use GoGargle! anytime you feel necessary. Thanks to its all natural formula, it is safe to use for children ages 3+.  With GoGargle!, you don't have to worry about the right ratio of salt to water, and the solution tastes better than ever, with a mild minty flavor and a touch of honey.

Guest Post: Maintaining Optimum Health During the Busy Cold and Flu Season

This is a guest post provided by Paige One.

The lazy days of summer are over, and it’s more important than ever to maintain optimum health for yourself while balancing the many priorities that fall brings. With the PTA meetings, classroom visits, and activities for your kids, as well as your own personal priorities, which may include a job, a household, or volunteering, it’s important to nurture your body’s health to ward off sickness. In the fall and winter months, people spend more times indoors, which means that there are more opportunities for cold and flu germs to thrive in the spaces you spend most of your time.

Here are a few proactive ways that you can try to ward off sickness this season.
{via}

Take your vitamins. Listen to your mom’s voice in your head encouraging you to take them each and every morning. Keeping your body healthy will help your immune system ward off germs. Individuals who take their vitamins often experience fewer bouts with sickness, or sickness that is shorter in duration. In addition to taking your vitamins, eat well-balanced, healthy meals to give your body an extra jolt of nutrition and energy. Good nutrition also helps with good circulation, which keeps you warmer during those
chilly fall and winter days.

Wash your hands. Remind yourself to wash your hands frequently throughout the day. Most people don’t wash their hands as long as needed. It may sound silly, but mentally singing the first stanza of Jingle Bells in your head while soaping and washing your hands to ensure that you are scrubbing them long enough to kill all the germs. It will help keep you healthy and get you in the Christmas spirit too!

One other great tactic is to make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day. Fluids help ward off sickness, and they also require several bathroom trips throughout the day, which will keep you constantly washing your hands.
 {via}

Be proactive this fall to invest in your health through this season and the next. Make a point to put into practice
these simple tactics to ward off sickness, and you will hopefully be sick fewer times and for shorter periods of time. Priorities will only increase as the season continues and the holidays approach and all that planning will be much easier if you are healthy, happy, and energetic.

New & Improved Infants' and Children's TYLENOL Coming Soon!

As parents, we all want our children to stay safe and healthy. It's therefore important to keep the best medicine on hand to help them feel better when they get sick. You may have noticed that many Infants' and Children's TYLENOL® products are still unavailable since last year's massive recall. The folks at McNeil Consumer Healthcare, i.e. the makers of TYLENOL, would like those who love and trust the brand to know that they will be making safety and convenience enhancements to both Infants’and Children’s TYLENOL products, including a change to the concentration of their Infants’TYLENOL products. The new & improved products are expected to hit store shelves as early as this upcoming cold and flu season.

Enhanced Bottle
Infants’ TYLENOL will include a new, enhanced bottle with a protective opening and push-in syringe which will:
  • Provide even better dosing accuracy and ease of administration to infants
  • Allow for better control when dispensing the medication and reduce spillage
  • Further reduce the risk of children being able to get to the medicine in the bottle
Children’s TYLENOL will also feature enhanced bottles with a protective opening that will help make it more difficult for a child to get to the medicine in the bottle.

Change in Concentration & Dosage
Infants’ TYLENOL will have the same concentration of the active ingredient, acetaminophen, as Children’s TYLENOL, which will standardize dosing across products and age groups. As always, Infants’ and Children’s TYLENOL® products will continue to include specially designed dosing devices appropriate to the age of the child.

The makers of TYLENOL have been working closely with other manufacturers of pediatric acetaminophen products to encourage an industry wide transition to one concentration across infants’ and children’s acetaminophen products. The transition may begin as early as this summer and is anticipated to continue into 2012.

Please note that there will be a time period when more than one concentration of infants’ acetaminophen products will be available in stores and parents and caregivers might have both in their medicine cabinets. Caregivers should be mindful to always read and follow the dosing directions on the package that is
being used.

For more information about about product enhancements and availability, please visit the official Tylenol products update page.

Here are some helpful tips for giving medicines to infants and children provided by the makers of TYLENOL:

Simply remember to NURSE
  • Never give adult medicines to children.
  • Use the measuring device (syringe, dropper, dosage cup) that comes with the medicine every time you use it. Don’t use kitchen spoons (teaspoons or tablespoons).
  • Read and follow instructions on the label. Never give more than the recommended dose and do not give the medication more frequently than recommended.
  • Store all medicines out of the reach of children. Immediately following use, always restore the child resistant cap and put the medicine back into a high and out of sight location.
  • Every child grows. Know the infant’s or child’s weight and/or age to help determine the appropriate dosage.

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Tylenol and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Get Prepared for Flu Season with Advil Congestion Relief

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recently reported in USA Today that the flu season is circulating in all 50 states and widespread in 37. It's important to keep the right supplies on hand in case it hits your household.

One of the annoying symptoms of flu is nasal congestion. Do you know that oftentimes the real cause of congestion is swelling due to nasal inflammation rather than mucus? I didn't until very recently. That explains why sometimes nothing came out when you tried to blow your nose to relieve congestion. In fact, a recent poll revealed that 79% of Americans are not aware that “inflamed nasal passages” are a potential cause of nasal congestion.
Advil® Congestion Relief is a new solution for the real problem. It combines the power of Advil® and an effective decongestant, to provide relief from sinus pressure, nasal swelling, congestion, and headaches. You can find Advil® Congestion Relief at major retailers nationwide. One2One Network sent me some sample packets of this new product for review. Although (thankfully) I haven't had the need to use any, I enjoy the peace of mind they provide, knowing that I have the right sinus medicine in my cabinet.

Disclosure: I received free product samples and coupons for writing this post. Basic product facts were provided by One2One Network. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Make 'N' Take Party #PedialyteSingles

Change of Seasons, especially when a dramatic change in temperature is involved, usually preludes a new wave of cold and flu attacks. Young kids are among those that are most vulnerable to such contagious diseases. It is therefore highly important for parents to take active measures to strengthen their kids' immune system and get prepared for the cold and flu season.

Pedialyte, the #1 pediatrician recommended brand, is known for helping prevent dehydration from diarrhea and vomiting for children. It's great to keep on hand all year round. Pedialyte has recently launched a new product line called Pedialyte Singles, featuring kid-friendly packaging (Tetra packing with straws), kid-approved flavors (apple, cherry, and fruit), and a mom-friendly clear liquid (no more stains from spills). The new packaging not only gives Pedialyte a shelf life of up to 18 months, but also eliminates the need for preservatives. Pedialyte Singles contain no artificial colors and optimal levels of sugars and sodium.
Part of cold/flu preparedness includes getting meals ready fast when your kid is sick and demands more attention. I was very lucky to be one of the 20 moms selected to host a Make 'N' Take Party, during which I invited 3 of my mommy friends and their kids over to try out new Pedialyte Singles and to savor some "made ahead" meals together. The party was a hit among both kids and adults. The kids loved the fruit flavor and playing with their peers. Everyone enjoyed the food my husband and I prepared beforehand. And all the guests were happy to take home a 4-pack Pedialyte Singles along with some Boogie Wipes. You may read my whrrl story for more details and pictures.
