New ACT Kids Toothpaste: Say No to Cavities #ACTKidsToothpaste

This post and party was sponsored by ACT Kids Toothpaste but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Dental care is serious business in our house, not only because the health of our teeth is closely tied to our overall health, but also because a healthy smile helps boost confidence and self-esteem, which are of considerable significance for our children and their future. We make sure our kids brush at least twice a day, floss nightly, and visit the dentist every six months. At the same time, we want them to have fun while taking good care of their pearly whites. Thanks to ACT Kids and MommyParties, my kids got to invite some of their friends over last week for a fantastic house party, during which they played fun games, learned great tips for cavity prevention, and best of all, each received a super-duper ACT Kids Toothpaste goodie bag!

There are quite a few common daily battles that moms have with their kids and getting kids to brush their teeth is one of them for many moms. According to a recent survey, nearly 4 in 10 moms (35%) say getting their kid(s) to brush their teeth is one of their most frustrating daily battles, in line with convincing their kid(s) to eat their veggies (38%) and putting their kid(s) to bed at night (40%).*

While our kids are fairly cooperative in terms of brushing their teeth every morning and evening, it is quite challenging for us to exercise quality control. They don't always brush long enough or thoroughly enough. So I still need to step in and remind them about proper brushing techniques from time to time. I've noticed however, that they do better when they use a toothpaste in a flavor they like and one with which they can make a lot of bubbles.

My kids and I were equally excited to unbox our ACT Kids Toothpaste party pack, which included a good number of handy party supplies, educational materials, activity sheets and ten goodie bags filled with ACT Kids Toothpaste samples, colorful toothbrushes and cute gadgets in the shape of healthy teeth.

We started the party off with a light brunch with rolls, sandwiches, cheese, fresh fruit, organic beef jerky and dark chocolate almond bars. We were then ready to educate ourselves about oral care, cavity prevention, healthy eating, etc through the materials and activities provided in the party kit. It was a rewarding and entertaining experience for both the kiddos and their parents. I was shocked to find out that more than 16 million children in the US suffer from tooth decay, with 25% getting cavities before entering kindergarten and 80% by age 171. Thankfully, fluoride toothpaste like ACT Kids Toothpaste can effectively strengthen kids teeth and protect them from cavities.

Specially developed for kids ages 2 and up, ACT Kids Toothpaste is available in two fun flavors that kids love: Bubble Gum and Fruit Punch. Based on feedback from my kids, the toothpaste leaves their mouth feeling fresh and clean, with no unpleasant aftertaste.

Through the color-coded infographic provided by ACT Kids, the kiddos learned about ways to keep their teeth healthy, such as brushing with a fluoride toothpaste twice a day for two minutes each time, flossing daily, visiting the dentist regularly, and adding rinse to dental care routine starting at the age of 6. ACT Kids Anticavity Fluoride Rinse, if used for 60 seconds a day, helps children ages 6 years and older reduce cavities up to 40% more than brushing alone! A healthy, balanced diet, and fluoridated water also help prevent tooth decay. That piece of knowledge is reinforced by the Happy Tooth Vs. Sad Tooth craft project and the matching game we played at the party. Now the kids know better about what food and drink their teeth like and what they should try to stay away from.

The most anticipated moment for the kids at the party, of course, wass time to find out what's inside their goodies bags. Each of our little party guests left with a big smile on their faces and I expect their smiles to be even healthier with the help of ACT Kids Toothpaste!

Visit ACToralcare.com/act-for-kids for information about the new ACT Kids Toothpaste, which is now available at a variety of retail locations, including select Walmart, Walgreens and Target locations. You may want to print out this $1 off coupon at ACTKidsSavings.com and bring it to the stores where ACT Kids Toothpaste and Rinse are sold. Hope your child will love the new product as much as we do. Please feel free to share your thoughts and personal experience with us in the comments section. Happy brushing!

We Love Nutella

I've been a huge fan of Ferrero Rocher chocolate for years, but I didn't know until very recently that the same company created Nutella spread. Now that I have finally tried Nutella (Oh, I should have much earlier!), I'm completely in love with it! Thanks to MommyParties, I received a box of goodies to host my very own Nutella house party and treated my mommy friends and their kids to a delicious and nutritious brunch.

Nutella is a hazelnut spread made from a unique combination of roasted hazelnuts, skim milk, and a hint of cocoa. It looks like chocolate paste, but in fact has a rich nutty flavor. Each 13 oz. jar of Nutella spread contains over 50 hazelnuts. Isn't that amazing? Better yet, Nutella does not contain any artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, or peanut ingredients. It's kosher and gluten free.

MommyParties and Nutella provided 10 swag bags for my party guests.
Each bag is complete with a sample of Nutella spread, a Nutella branded tumbler, a Nutella branded spreader, $1 off coupon, information sheet, and recipe cards.

Nutella spread has proven to be a great companion to whole grain/multigrain food like bread, English muffins, and crackers, along with fresh fruits. My friends and I all agree that it tastes DIVINE. It's something you can indulge yourself in and feel good about it. I love its creamy texture and thick consistency. It's perfect for lovers of both hazelnuts and chocolate. My favorite way to eat Nutella is to top Wheat Thins crackers with it--a nutritious and filling afternoon snack! My son loves eating Nutella with English muffins and berries--a great way to start the day!

During the party, we I not only savored some tasty food, but also learned a lot about the importance of breakfast for kids, what constitutes a balanced breakfast, tips for encouraging kids to eat breakfast, and fun facts about the Nutella brand. I wish we had more parties like this in the future.

Have I convinced you to give Nutella a try (if you haven't already)? Nutella can be found at all major grocery stores, mass merchandiser, warehouse and club stores nationwide. You can find a store near you by using this convenient store locator. Don't forget to print this $1 off coupon before you hit the store. You could even win a case of Nutella free by entering the monthly sweepstakes. If you buy Nutella on a regular basis, keep your proof-of-purchase (the gold seal on the top of any Nutella jar) and trade them for Nutella branded merchandise including T-shirt, mug, tumbler, and spreader. Happy eating!

Disclosure: I received free products from MommyParties to host a Nutella party. No monetary compensation was provided. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Make 'N' Take Party #PedialyteSingles

Change of Seasons, especially when a dramatic change in temperature is involved, usually preludes a new wave of cold and flu attacks. Young kids are among those that are most vulnerable to such contagious diseases. It is therefore highly important for parents to take active measures to strengthen their kids' immune system and get prepared for the cold and flu season.

Pedialyte, the #1 pediatrician recommended brand, is known for helping prevent dehydration from diarrhea and vomiting for children. It's great to keep on hand all year round. Pedialyte has recently launched a new product line called Pedialyte Singles, featuring kid-friendly packaging (Tetra packing with straws), kid-approved flavors (apple, cherry, and fruit), and a mom-friendly clear liquid (no more stains from spills). The new packaging not only gives Pedialyte a shelf life of up to 18 months, but also eliminates the need for preservatives. Pedialyte Singles contain no artificial colors and optimal levels of sugars and sodium.
Part of cold/flu preparedness includes getting meals ready fast when your kid is sick and demands more attention. I was very lucky to be one of the 20 moms selected to host a Make 'N' Take Party, during which I invited 3 of my mommy friends and their kids over to try out new Pedialyte Singles and to savor some "made ahead" meals together. The party was a hit among both kids and adults. The kids loved the fruit flavor and playing with their peers. Everyone enjoyed the food my husband and I prepared beforehand. And all the guests were happy to take home a 4-pack Pedialyte Singles along with some Boogie Wipes. You may read my whrrl story for more details and pictures.

The Pedialyte site has many helpful resources for parents, such as Essentials for a well-stocked medicine chest, Printable activities to keep kids entertained when sick, and Warning Signs & Symptoms of dehydration.

If you're planning to get your own Pedialyte Singles, please don't forget to print this coupon to receive $1.50 off your purchase. To find a store near you, click here.

Note: Pedialyte should be used under medical supervision. Please talk to your doctor before using the product.

I'm passionate about trying new things and giving my opinion on them. Crowdtap is the perfect site for people like me. I would really love to "Crowdtap" (collaborate) with my favorite brands and help evaluate their new products. In particular, I look forward to "meeting" decision-makers from Apple Computer on Crowtap and advising them to develop more mom- and kid-friendly features for their hottest products. I also hope to have the opportunity to test their products in exchange of my feedback.

I joined Crowdtap exactly two weeks ago and I've had very positive experience so far. I love that it's pretty easy and fast to accrue points for completing fun activities like quickhits (polls) and discussions.
