Written in lyrical and lighthearted rhymes, Miranda Moose Loves Orange Juiceoffers young readers an enjoyable and uplifting read while teaching them about kindness, generosity, tenacity and self-sufficiency. Miranda Moose can't go one day without having her orange juice. Imagine her dismay when she finds out one morning that none is left both at home and at the store! She sets out to see if she can borrow some from her neighbors. Although they don't have any orange juice to share, each of Miranda's farm friends offers her something they produce themselves and points her to the right direction, which leads her to discover the source of her joy where she least expects it.
As they follow Miranda's visits to her neighbors, little ones not only get aquainted with various farm animals but also learn about the goods they produce, such as eggs, milk and wool. The conversations between Miranda and her friends demonstrate how to ask for help politely and how to be kind, supportive and generous to someone in need of help. Miranda's laudable determination inspires youngsters to work hard toward their goal, to overcome obstacles in their way, and to never give up easily.
Featuring warm hues and expressive eyes, the playful illustrations enrich the story with cute-looking characters, beautiful natural landscapes, and delightful details not referenced in the text. My favorite is the ending scene in which Miranda treats all of her friends to freshly squeezed OJ under the starry sky, a happy face on everyone including Mrs. O'Tree. The picture glows with the joy of sharing and giving back.
A pleasure to read aloud and attentively, Miranda Moose Loves Orange Juice makes it fun to learn about food sources, good manners and positive attributes.

As a stay-at-home mother, Melanie Brazdzionis spent much of her time engaging, educating, and entertaining her two children.
Miranda Moose Loves Orange Juice was a result of those very efforts.
Prior to becoming a mother, Melanie wrote lyrics and music for her original rock band in the late 1980s. More recently, she launched a virtual assistant business to edit other people’s newsletters and websites. Her current focus is on creating and publishing stories to entertain other people’s children.
When Melanie is not writing, she is practicing yoga, playing piano, studying French, hiking, or traveling. Melanie lives with her husband in Connecticut.
