Secrets of the Wild is a humorous and wildly imaginative picture book that prompts us to think about what we don't know about wild animals and what we can do to protect them. Have you ever wondered what animals do when they are left completely in the wild, away from human observation or intervention? What parties do they hold? What games do they play? What sports events do they attend? What currency do they use? What snacks and beverages are most popular? Get all these interesting questions answered in the book!
Told by a mysterious narrator of unknown identity, the story provides a sneak peak of the fascinating secret lives of wild animals, who mingle and socialize in a humanlike but wilder and bolder fashion. The colorful and vivid illustrations bring all the characters to life with a multitude of actions and funny expressions.
While the story is purely fictional, it practically helps plant the seeds of love for animals in young readers. By revealing how animals may behave very differently in front of humans, the book warns against captivating animals and exploiting them for entertainment, experiments and the like. "Animals are wild, and wild they shall be." The message is loud and clear.
In sum, this is an entertaining and thought-provoking summer read for budding wildlife lovers.
