My Review:

Filled with vivid descriptions and brightly colored images, Vivienne in Paris is a relaxing and refreshing read about mindfulness, happiness, and self discovery. One Sunday morning, Vivienne decides to take a tour of the city of Paris in an attempt to find things that bring her true joy. As she utilizes all of her senses to explore the places she frequents, Vivienne starts to appreciate the many wonders and pleasures she has overlooked before.

Told from a young girl's perspective, the story guides the readers through an immersive experience of French culture, from freshly baked croissant to pungent smelling Brie, and from soft and fuzzy fedora to fragrant and gorgeous flowers including iris, the inspiration for the symbol of French royalty. Some commonly used French expressions are highlighted in red so that they can be easily learned in context.

While being a picture book, its language, length of text, and messages make the book more suitable for middle grade readers. Vivienne's journey may inspire them to view their familiar surroundings with fresh eyes and to discover the simple joys of life with their senses.

Thoughtfully written and elegantly illustrated, this book is sure to bring joy and delight to those who have a keen interest in Paris, France, and mindful living.
