Goobletygok Blog Tour: Review and Prize Pack Giveaway

Is there a special activity you love to do with your grandparent when you spend time together? The grandpa and grandson duo in Goobletygok comes up with a fun game of their own. Read all about it in Richard Bird's debut book and enter to win a lovely prize pack!

My Review:

Goobletygok is a cozy and lighthearted picture book which explores the expression of love, the fun of word play, and the joy of intergenerational communication. As Freddy enjoys his favorite fruit, his grandpa Poppy challenges him to a rhyming word game that he invents on the spot. Puzzled by the wacky sounding words at first, Freddy learns the ropes quickly and starts to create his own word and build an ever-growing sentence with all the words that rhyme with the made-up one. The fun never ends, just like their love for each other!

Through a simple but unique storyline, the book shows the comical effects of rhyming words as well as the loving relationship between a child and his grandfather. The cheerful and hilarious illustrations bring to life the crazily imaginative senarios that Poppy and Freddy fabricate during their game. While laughing out loud, young readers may learn about how rhyming words work and how to express their love for someone creatively. Meanwhile, parents and grandparents may get inspired to find more fun activities they could do to strengthen their bonds with their young.

Short and sweet, this is the perfect book to read during a get-together with your extended family.
