I Miss You Most Blog Tour: Review and Prize Pack Giveaway

There are many people we love that we do not live with all the time. What could you do when you really, really miss them? Besides letters, phone calls and video chats, Cassie Hoyt suggests a creative way to express your feelings in her new picture book I Miss You Most. Read on for more details about the book and a chance to win a signed copy, along with a $100 gift card!

My Review:

I Miss You Most is a short and sweet read that addresses a very common emotional state anyone experiences when they are apart from loved ones. Thanks to modern technology, we can stay connected by chatting over the phone or via a video cam. But that's still not the same as meeting in person. Our imagination may help us deal with the strong feelings caused by physical separation. The book encourages young readers to imagine all the fun things they could do together with their close friends or favorite members in their extended families. Some examples include going on a safari, a dinosaur hunt, a trip to Mars, a roller coaster ride, and more!

The book nicely combines rhyming text with colorful illustrations featuring cute, realistic characters that reprent people from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. With a considerate balanced presentation of boys and girls, the pictures add great details to the simple statements about the fun activities that pop up in a child's mind. The book not only shows how love can conquer distance, but also encourages us to cherish the memories left by the time spent with our loved ones.

Cassie is also the author of Hatch!, which I reviewed here. While Hatch! can serve as a perfect first read for babies and toddlers, I Miss You Most is great for preschoolers and older kids who can understand more complex concepts.
