As the town prepares for the annual pumpkin-growing contest, Charlie sets her sights on winning. With the help of quirky Arlo (Nick Frost), plot and pumpkins thicken as rival growers pull every trick in the book. Will Charlie and Dinah’s unlikely entry stand tall against the fiercest competition the town has ever seen? As her pumpkin grows, so does her bond with Dinah, and together they learn the real prize is joy, laughter, and family.

My Review:

Featuring a colorful cast of characters, Grow is an entertaining and heartwarming comedy about family, friendship, love, growth, and the human connection with nature. It revolves around Charlie, a strong young girl with a soft heart yearning for love, and her aunt Dinah, who refrains from expressing her emotions but cares for Charlie in her unique way. The bond between the two grows stronger by the day as they work together trying to win the pumpkin contest. In the end however, winning the contest seems far less important than finding the family they need.

Through hilarious scenarios, unexpected plot twists, and quirky supporting characters, the film prompts us to care for the environment, compete with honesty and integrity, and correct our wrongs with courage and sincerity. Funny and fantastical, Grow provides a cozy, safe alternative to scary movies.

My Review:

With a pleasant mix of mystery, adventure and comedy, Dot Conner: Webtective is an action-packed, entertaining movie emphasizing the importance of faith, family and friends. As a dashing, smart and tech-savvy first-year high schooler, Dot Conner is a lovable heroine that many teenagers can easily relate to. It champions Christian values in an engaging and enjoyable manner. Besides heart-warming memories and nerve-racking situations, the movie also includes plenty of funny moments that can amuse both kids and their parents.

Light of the World in Theaters 9/5! Win an Amazon Gift Card!

Are you a fan of the 1990s golden era of 2D, hand-drawn animation? Would you like your kids to learn about the life of Jesus through a fun and engaging animated film? Light of the World, the first movie from Salvation Poem Project, opens in theaters September 5, 2025. Early showings are available today. Get your tickets now to see the film in theaters this opening weekend! Enter to win an Amazon gift card!

Synopsis:

It’s AD 30 and everyone is expectantly awaiting the coming Messiah. While Jesus isn’t exactly what they imagined, there is something special about this man. Soon, John, James, Andrew, Peter, and their new friends begin to follow Jesus on an unexpected adventure. This beautiful, 2D-animated story of Jesus is told through the eyes of his beloved young friend, the Apostle John. From the beginning of Jesus’ ministry through his crucifixion and resurrection, LIGHT OF THE WORLD powerfully illustrates how Jesus of Nazareth changed the world forever and still changes lives today!

My Review:

Directed by Tom Bancroft (known for his work with Disney on The Lion King, Mulan, and Beauty and the Beast) and John Schafer (producer of the beloved program Superbook), Light of the World is an entertaining and heartwarming movie about faith, family, sacrifice and transformation. The film sets itself apart from other cinematic adaptations by retelling the classic story from a fresh point of view -- that of Jesus' Apostle John, who is a teenager raised in a fisherman family struggling to survive the Roman exploitation. Young viewers get to know Jesus through his friendship with John, the changes he brings to John's family and the miracles John witnesses.

The film does an amazing job of incorporating creative elements while staying faithful to the gospel. With lighthearted humor and honesty, it follows John's growth as a young Christian, as well as the conversion of his father. Along with John, children learn to understand why Jesus chooses to save his people with love, kindness and forgiveness instead of violence.

Beautifully made, Light of the World is a movie that the full family can enjoy on a big screen. Don't miss it while it plays in theaters. If you're going in a group of 10 or more people, you can get group tickets for just $7.50 a person!

The people of Israel welcome Jesus as king while his disciples anticipate his crowning. But—instead of confronting Rome—he turns the tables on the Jewish religious festival. Their power threatened, the country’s religious and political leaders will go to any length to ensure this Passover meal is Jesus’ last.

Shot in a beautiful cinematic format, The Chosen: Last Supper brings the most pivotal week in history to audiences in this special three-part theatrical release.

My Review:

As the latest season of one of the world's most watched shows, The Chosen: Last Supper retells the classic story through creative cinematic expression.

The acting, the camerawork and the background music work seamlessly together to bring us back to the last days of Jesus' life. The show starts with the powerful speech Jesus delivers at the table. Jonathan Roumie continues to impress me with his engaging performance, which helps the audience feel the pains Jesus had to endure and understand the sacrifices he chose to make in order to save his people.

I've only watched the first episode of the new season and can hardly wait to get more of the show. I'm sure fans of the series will enjoy The Chosen: Last Supper as much as I did.

The Unbreakable Boy In Theaters This Friday! Win an Amazon Gift Card!

Based on an inspirational true story, The Unbreakable Boy is coming to the theaters February 21. Buy tickets today to watch this sweet film on the big screen starting tomorrow! Plus enter to win an Amazon gift card in celebration of the movie's official release!

Synopsis:

From Kingdom Story Company, the team behind JESUS REVOLUTION and THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, and Lionsgate, the studio behind WONDER, comes THE UNBREAKABLE BOY.

When his parents, Scott (Zachary Levi) and Teresa (Meghann Fahy), learn that Austin is both autistic and has brittle bone disease, they initially worry for their son’s future. But with Scott’s growing faith and Austin’s incredible spirit, they become “unbreakable,” finding joy, gratitude, and courage even in the most trying times — an extraordinary true story about a father and son learning together that every day can be the best day of your life!

My Review:

Beautifully made with powerful messages, The Unbreakable Boy is a heartwarming and uplifting movie about family, life, redemption and forgiveness. Although Austin's condition is extremely rare (one in four billion), his story is truly inspiring and relatable. The challenges his parents have to face are real and may resonate with many of us.

It takes practice and patience to parent a child, to keep a family intact, and to stay on the right track. The struggle and success of the characters inspire us to remain positive and persistent in the face of adversity, and to gather the courage to correct mistakes and make amends. While a person can be "broken" without any health issues, it is the inner strength that makes one "unbreakable".

The film explores the beauty and complexity of various kinds of relationships that coexist in a family, including those between husband and wife, father and son, and between siblings. It's perfect for the whole family to enjoy together and everyone may get their unique takeaway from the movie.

Between Borders in Theaters 1/26-28! Amazon Gift Card Giveaway!

Starring Elizabeth Tabish from The Chosen and Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost, Between Borders opens in theaters January 26-28. Buy tickets today to see the movie on the big screen and enter to win an Amazon gift card below!

Synopsis:

In a crumbling Soviet Union, the Petrosyan family are outcasts—wherever they go. Armenian heritage marks them for discrimination both at home in Azerbaijan and in Russia. Based on a riveting true story of faith and hope set amidst great oppression … in the shadow of exile, hope became their home.

My Review:

Featuring an all-star and diverse cast, Between Borders is a heartwarming, thought-provoking film about family, faith, freedom, kindness and inclusion. The true story of the Petrosyan family gets recounted through an asylum court hearing intertwined with emotionally charged flashbacks of the couple. The viewers can't help but empathizing with the family for what they had to go through before coming to the US, while wondering what the stern-looking judge's decision would be. Meanwhile, the government attorney played by Elizabeth Mitchell makes a convincing case against the Petrosyans. There's no clear cut answer as to which side should prevail.

Reminiscent of many immigrants' experience in their home countries, the story prompts one to think about the price they are willing to pay for political, religious and social freedom, and why freedom matters so much to one's well-being. It's hard not to be touched by the kindness and generosity of the church community as exemplified in the film. The impact of Violetta's conversion to Christianity on her attitude toward life is also noteworthy.

In sum, Between Borders is a well-made movie that inspires, empowers and enlightens.

The Carpenter in Theaters Now! Win an Amazon Gift Card! Flash #Giveaway

An ancient story told through the life of a fighter, The Carpenter is now playing in theaters. Get your tickets today and enter to win an Amazon gift card!

Synopsis:

An adopted viking orphan becomes a carpenter’s apprentice to Jesus. The orphan, Oren, fights as a side hustle. His experience training as a carpenter with Jesus as his mentor changes his lifestyle.

My Review:

Set in Nazareth in 29 A.D., The Carpenter is an action-packed Christian movie demonstrating the healing and transformative power of faith as well as the joy of spreading kindness and caring for those in need. The story is well-paced to keep viewers interested in finding out what will happen next. The chemistry between the main characters is compelling in a way that adds to the charm of their relationships (including those between the carpenter and his apprentice, close friends and family members).

The movie exceeds my expectation in that the fighting scenes are shot and performed artfully without being overly violent or bloody. The music, along with the sound effects, does an excellent job of building tension, suspense and excitement. Besides, many important life lessons are nicely incorporated into the story through meaningful conversations and interactions between the characters. It's an inspiring movie to watch whether you enjoy watching combat sports.

Lost on a Mountain in Maine in Theaters 11/1! Win an Amazon Gift Card! #Giveaway

Lost on a Mountain in Maine, a film based on a true story and a book by the same name, premieres in theaters on November 1. Get a sneak peak and enter to win an Amazon gift card!

Synopsis:

The inspiring true story of 12-year-old Donn Fendler who, separated from his family by a fast-moving storm, must fight to stay alive while lost for nine-days in the remote wilderness of northern Maine. Donn’s disappearance captures national headlines and sparks a massive search effort attracting hundreds of volunteers, including his own father who fears he may never see his son again.

My Review:

Featuring interviews with Donn Fendler's family members, friend, park ranger and volunteer involved in the search, Lost on a Mountain in Maine is a heartwarming movie about a tough teenage boy's miraculous survival after wandering in the backwoods of Maine for nine days without food or proper clothing.

By juxtaposing Donn's arduous adventure in Katahdin Woods and his parents' anxious search and wait, the film shows the strong bond between them, their shared determination, and the incredible power of family and love. Donn never gives up trying to find his way home, while his parents never give up looking for him. It's impossible to hold back my tears when they finally get renuited. Videos that recorded the real reunion are included in the ending part of the movie.

The film explores various aspects of family relationships, especially the dynamics between father and son, and between siblings. It encourages us to put family first and to express love openly whenever possible. It's a great movie to watch around the holidays.

Average Joe in Theaters 10/11! Amazon Gift Card Giveaway!

Based on the true story of Coach Joe Kennedy, new movie Average Joe is set to release in theaters this Friday, October 11. Get your tickets today here and enter to win an Amazon gift card!

Synopsis:

High school football coach Joe Kennedy had no other choice but to fight. A childhood in foster care followed by 20 years in the Marine Corps was nothing compared to his biggest battle: his commitment to stand for God publicly by taking a knee in prayer after each game. When he was fired, Joe and his wife Denise knew this battle for religious freedom, freedom of speech, and the rights of all Americans was one they would have to fight—no matter the cost. From the director and producers of God’s Not Dead and the producers of The Blind comes AVERAGE JOE, in theaters beginning October 11.

My Review:

Starring seasoned actor Eric Close and actress Amy Acker, Average Joe retells Joe Kennedy's life experience as a foster child, a Marine and a high school football coach who keeps fighting for his freedom all the way up to the Supreme Court. The movie entertains and engages the viewers using a humorous postmodernist approach. Expect to get a behind-the-scene sneak peak of the filmmaking in the middle of a scene. A character may unexpectedly turn to the screen and talk to you directly, sharing their secret thoughts or reminding you that some elements of the film are fictional rather than factual for the sake of dramatic effects.

The movie is amusing, relaxing and thought-provoking regardless of which side you are on for the highly contentious case. Joe's courage to stand up for his belief and his commitment to his promise are touching. As he points out repeatedly, his fight for freedom is for the benefit of everyone, not just those who share his religious beliefs. His story inspires ordinary people to make extraordinary achievements through determination and persistence.

White Bird in Theaters Now! Win an Amazon Gift Card! #BeBraveChooseKind #Giveaway

From the studio that created Wonder comes White Bird, adapted from R. J. Palacio (bestselling author of Wonder)’s graphic novel with the same title. The movie is now playing in theaters nationwide. Get your tickets here and enter to win an Amazon gift card below!

Synopsis

From the world of Wonder, which sparked a movement to "choose kind," comes the inspirational next chapter: WHITE BIRD. Struggling to fit in at his new school after being expelled for his treatment of Auggie Pullman, Julian (Bryce Gheisar) is visited by his grandmother (Helen Mirren) and is transformed by the compassionate and heroic story of her attempts to escape Nazi-occupied France during WWII. From the director of Finding Neverland, WHITE BIRD reminds us to be brave and choose kind.

My Review:

With a charming cast and a riveting story, White Bird impresses me as a deeply touching and inspiring film about love, kindness, bravery and humanity. Transitioning back and forth between the present and the 1940s, it recounts the heart-wrenching yet miraculous experience of young Jewish girl Sara, who gets hidden away by a boy and his family in Nazi-occupied France during World War II.

Everything about this movie, from acting and directing to music and cinematography, is beautifully done. The young actors in particular have done a spectacular job of portraying the main characters with subtlety, letting viewers feel their complex emotions, their struggle for survival and their growth over time. My favorite scenes are those that involve the romantic pair traveling together through imagination.

What makes the movie most memorable is its message regarding the power of kindness and the courage it takes to remain kind during the darkest time in history. The little white bird that frequently appears in the movie serves as a symbol of hope, peace and freedom. It reminds us of the importance of keeping the light in our hearts and never giving up the fight for justice. The incredible sacrifice made by all the kind and brave people in the story to protect Jews from persecution inspires us to bring light to those trapped in darkness.

The Hopeful in Theaters Soon! Amazon Gift Card Giveaway!

Inspired by real persons and events, The Hopeful traces the history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which observes Saturday, the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath. Buy tickets today to see The Hopeful in theaters ONLY on April 17 & 18th!

Synopsis:

William Miller’s faith is in ruins. After miraculously surviving a fierce battle in the War of 1812, Miller questions why God spared him. His search for wisdom leads to an astonishing prophesy — the world is going to end. The Hopeful unfolds as a story of a man burdened with the knowledge of Christ’s return. Miller’s message resonates with some—even as it is scorned by others. When a young woman named Ellen Harmon listens to one of his sermons she is transformed. And through her witness the message begins to take flight. The preaching grows beyond prophecy and develops into a more holistic vision for how Christians should live and worship. We see blossoming the seeds of a new global movement of faith —the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The Hopeful is the true story of a community whose lives were transformed as they learn what it means to truly wait for Jesus. This sweeping drama, set in 19th century New England, invites audiences of all ages to imagine how hope can change the world.

My Review:

Set in the 19th century, The Hopeful is an inspiring and informative historical movie that retells a true story of hope, faith, courage and endurance. It follows the incredible experience of Ellen White, a strong woman with visions and insight who plays a pivotal role in the formation of the denomination. Named by The Smithsonian Institution as one of the 100 most influential Americans of all time, Ellen inspires us to stay firm and hopeful in the face of doubt, disbelief, disdain and hardships. I'm particularly impressed by the beautiful music and angelic voice of Grammy Award winning singer and songwriter Jonas Myrin. In sum, The Hopeful is a family friendly film that touches the heart and soul.

My Review:

Hilarious and heartwarming, Camp Hideout is an action-packed comedy that everyone in the family can enjoy. It follows Noah, a cynical, rebellious teenager who feels lost in the foster care system as he reluctantly joins a summer camp that turns out to be truly fun and rewarding. In this story of family, friendship and belonging, young viewers learn what it truly means to forgive and that it's never too late to turn over a new leaf and redeem oneself. Duron has been retired for 30 years, but decides to return to Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, La., after the one-time high school football powerhouse fell on rough times. Once home to 14 state championships in the last 20 years, the team is now coming off its worst season in school history. The series focuses on the 2022 high school football season as Evangel Christian Academy — which has sent more football players to the NFL and NCAA Division 1 college football programs than any other high school in the state — looks to rebuild. NFL quarterback Russell Wilson is the executive producer.

My Review:

Having watched the entire series, I'm very impressed with the way it presents the exciting and uplifting journey of Coach Denny and his team as they work hard together to get back to their path to victory. Faced with struggles and setbacks on and off the field, team members bond closely together like a big family through their faith, their love for football, and their determination to win.

Besides its focus on the young athletes' practice routines and game day performances, the series also shows their life as a regular teenager and high school student. Regardless of how the games turn out, the players grow to be more confident, more positive and more resilient. Captivating and fun to watch, the show uses relatable real life examples to teach about courage, stamina and leadership. Highly recommend!
