Celebrate Independence Day with Sound of Freedom! In Theaters July 4th

Do you know that 2 million children are being trafficked each year and that the United States is one of the top destinations for human trafficking? You may help people around you to take note of this appalling crime by inviting them to watch Sound of Freedom, a compelling new release from Angel Studios, which aims to pre-sell 2 million tickets to represent those precious children. The film premieres in theaters nationwide on July 4th! Get your tickets here.

Synopsis:

Sound of Freedom, based on the incredible true story, shines a light on even the darkest of places. After rescuing a young boy from ruthless child traffickers, a federal agent learns the boy’s sister is still captive and decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save her. With time running out, he quits his job and journeys deep into the Colombian jungle, putting his life on the line to free her from a fate worse than death.

My Review:

Sound of Freedom is an enthralling and inspiring movie that impresses me with its artful cinematic presentation and powerful messages. While the story is told through a heroic act, its primary focus remains on the children that have been abducted, enslaved and exploited. The contrast between the innocence of the children and the brutality of the traffickers is particularly evocative and heart-wrenching.

The film not only helps raise awareness about the prevalence and gravity of child trafficking, but also urges parents, lawmakers, law enforcement officers, and virtually anyone who cares about the welfare of our younger generation, to join forces in their attempts to make a difference. Together, we may propel a movement that could save millions of children around the world.

You can start showing your support by paying for a friend's ticket at angel.com/freedom. This will help Angel Studios reach their goal of #2MillionFor2Million to help end child trafficking.

Could a Landline Be Your Lifeline? 3 Tips for Keeping Your Home Safe This Summer

Mobile phones are playing such an important role in modern life that they have made the landlines seem obsolete. At least that's what I thought until I learned about why landline is a necessity for families with kids staying at home during summer. Imagine a situation in which your kids, in your absence, have to call 911 for help due to an emergency at home. Will they call from a cell phone or a landline? And does it make any difference? Surprisingly, the answer is yes. According to the latest data, if you don't have a landline in your home, it could be putting your children in grave danger.

Here's a shocking fact: According to an investigation by the USA Today, the chances of 911 dispatchers being able to find you based on your cell phone's GPS can be as low as 10% in some parts of the country. With a significant share of cell phone-to-911 calls being placed from within residences — and 45% of Americans opting out of landline coverage at home — countless people are left vulnerable in emergencies. The question then becomes not why you should have a landline in the home, but why haven't you gotten one yet?
In the spirit of keeping you and your family safe, I've partnered with Ooma, leading Internet home phone service with reliable E911 technology, to deliver three tips for keeping your home safe this summer in addition to owning a landline.

#KidsBuckleUp $100 Amazon Giftcard Giveaway

Bloggin’ Mamas would like to support the Ad Council and The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) with promoting the Seat Belt Safety campaign, which asks parents of children ages 8–14 to make sure their kids are consistently and properly wearing their seat belt every time they get in the car.

Parenting a tween involves compromise. But here’s one rule that should not be up for debate – the car doesn’t move until everyone is wearing a seat belt. If you say it, and if parents buckle up themselves, your tween will buckle up. And if they don’t, that’s a fight worth having. It might just save your tween’s life.

Did you know that one child passenger age 8 – 14 is injured every 8 minutes in a car crash? From 2009 – 2013, 1,522 kids ages 8–14 died in car, SUV and van crashes. Of those who died, almost half were unbelted. As children get older they’re sometimes less likely to buckle up. The percentage of child passengers who die while riding unrestrained generally increases with age and is most pronounced among 13 and 14-year-olds regardless of seating position.
