Smoked Sausage Thin Spaghetti
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Serves: 2 adults and 2 kids
Ingredients:
10 ounces Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage
8 ounces thin spaghetti
2 medium carrots
1 celery stalk
1 head broccoli
1 king trumpet mushroom
1 tablespoon olive oil
3-4 tablespoon pasta sauce (brand and variety of your choice)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
1. Follow package directions to boil thin spaghetti until tender, then drain; At the same time, cut sausage, carrot, celery, broccoli, and mushroom into bite-size pieces. (Kids tend to eat more vegetables if they are cooked in the right size. You may cut them into bigger slices if desired)
2. In a non-stick skillet, brown sausage in olive oil with medium heat for 2-3 minutes, then set aside in a plate.
3. Cook carrot, celery, broccoli and mushroom in the remaining oil until tender. Add salt. Stir well.
4. Add sausage, drained thin spaghetti and pasta sauce to the vegetable mix. Stir well and heat through.
5. Ready to serve.
This is an all-time favorite among my kids. Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage is definitely a highlight of the dish as a quality source of protein and perfect addition to the mix of flavors. Tender, juicy, well-seasoned, the sausage makes a great treat on its own. I suggest you try wrapping boiled or sautéed sausage slices with fresh lettuce leaves as an appetizer or snack. It's simply scrumptious!
