CBS New Reality Show "The Briefcase" Premieres Tonight! #TheBriefcase

What would you do if you were given $100,000 and 72 hours to decide whether to keep the money or to give part, or all of it away to another family in need? That's the tough situation the families are faced with in CBS new reality show "The Briefcase", which is set to premiere today at 8-9pm ET/PT. Tune in the show tonight to find out how each family reaches their final decisions.

Each week, two hard-working American families who are experiencing financial setbacks will each be presented with a briefcase containing $101,000. They get to spend the $1,000 any way they want, and have 72 hours to learn details about each other’s challenging circumstances and make a potentially life-changing decision about what to do with the remaining $100,000.

What the families didn't know, however, is that the family with whom they are considering sharing this financial windfall received an identical briefcase with the same instructions. Throughout their journeys, relationships within both families will be tested and beliefs questioned as they find out what really matters most in their lives, and how much importance they place on values such as love, generosity, compassion and faith.

I was given the opportunity to preview the premiere episode. I have been on an emotional roller coaster as much as the families were in the show. Tears couldn't help running down my cheeks as the families struggle to weigh their own needs against those of the other family. I can't possibly imagine what I would do if I were in their shoes, but I do realize how lucky I am to have everyone in my family happy and healthy even though we are not financially well-off. I don't want to give away too many spoilers. What I can say is that the ending is both surprising and heartwarming.

The Dovekeepers Limited Event Series on CBS 3/31 & 4/1

Alice Hoffman’s bestselling novel The Dovekeepers has been adapted into a four-hour limited event series, which is set to broadcast on CBS between 9-11pm ET on March 31st and April 1, 2015. The show features an amazing cast and production team, along with an epic story from the novel. It's a show that you don't want to miss!

Published in 2011, The Dovekeeprs by Alice Hoffman centers around four women who were among a group of Jews that escaped to Masada after the Romans took over Jerusalem. Set in ancient Israel, the story recounted many of the true events at Masada in 70 C.E. from a unique female perspective. Nobel laureate Toni Morrison acclaimed the book as “a major contribution to 21st century literature.”

The Dovekeeprs is brought to television by executive producers Roma Downey and multiple Emmy Award winner Mark Burnett ("Survivor", “The Voice”), the production team behind the Emmy-nominated 10-hour miniseries “The Bible,” and the feature “Son of God.”

Actresses Cote de Pablo, Rachel Brosnahan and Kathryn Prescott play the title dovekeeper roles of the series, which also stars Sam Neill as first-century Jewish scholar and historian Josephus, and Diego Boneta as a star warrior of the Jewish army at Masada.

The story is very emotional and compelling. It portrays a group of extraordinary women who are incredibly strong, smart, and courageous. While they share a common bond for survival, each of them also has their own secrets to conceal and protect. Get a sneak peak of the series below.

Watch All New Episodes of 2 Broke Girls Season 3 on Monday Nights #2brokegirls

Being broke doesn't sound like fun, does it? But doing whatever you can to get back on your feet and regain financial solvency can be fun and rewarding. I have never really been a "broke girl", but I did experience a time in my life when I had to struggle to make ends meet. That happened while I was in college and decided to challenge myself to become financially independent. I told my parents to stop depositing money into my account beyond the first month in the new school year. That was about when I started to learn how to save and live on a tight budget.

The first step I took was to live off campus, which saved me more than half in rent every month. I was lucky to get a 5-year-old queen mattress, a box spring in good condition, and an old but functioning TV set completely free from Craigslist. I bought a shop light with bulbs for under 20 bucks at Home Depot. The only things I splurged a bit on were a 3-tier tower computer work station and a leather office chair, which I got from Staples for a total of $150 after mail-in rebate and store coupons. I was really happy with the simple but sufficient setup of my new room and was excited to be sharing a townhouse with two nice girls and a funny guy who turned out to be a talented cook.

Then I managed to secure four tutoring jobs before the funds in my bank account ran out. Since the jobs weren't exactly high-paying, I still needed to plan my purchases very carefully in order not to get bankrupt. I saved quite a bit by buying used textbooks from Amazon and Half.com. I also felt in love with the Subway store a few blocks away from campus, where I could get a delicious and nutritious meal for less than $5. Another way to cut down expenses was to eat free food on campus, which started by accident and turned into a fun game like a treasure hunt. There were so many on-campus parties, events and educational activities that offered free food as an incentive for participation that I could hardly went by a week without attending one or two. I also enjoyed sharing those opportunities with my friends and classmates.

Another important change I made was to get around on bike instead of taxi or public transportation. It not only saved me some extra cash but also helped me stay fit. Now you see, being low on cash has its bright side too. It encourages you to explore resources that might remain untapped otherwise and to acquire new skills that could benefit you in the long run.

The Good Wife Season Premiere

Looking for a good late night show this fall? Check out CBS new drama series called The Good Wife, which premieres on Tuesday, September 22nd. Starring Emmy Award winner Julianna Margulies (ER) and Chris Noth (Mr. Big from Sex and the City). The Good Wife follows a wife and mother as she assumes full responsibility for her family and re-enters the workforce after her husband's very public sex scandal and political corruption lands him in jail. After 13 years out of the courtroom, Alicia (Margulies) starts over by pursuing her original career as a defense attorney. The series will unravel her adventures in the man's world.



As a mom and wife myself, I'd be interested in finding out how Alicia transforms herself from embarrassed politician's scorned wife to resilient career woman for the sake of providing a stable home for her children. I look forward to seeing her trade in her identity as the "good wife" and take charge of her own destiny.
