My Review:

I was given the opportunity to watch the film before it hits the theaters. The 90-minute documentary impresses me as eye-opening and thought-provoking. By following the homeschooling journeys of different families across the nation, the film addresses the doubts and concerns about homeschooling, while demonstrating both the challenges and accomplishments associated with homeschooling. Most importantly, it explores all the great advantages of homeschooling - freedom, flexibility, diversity, customizability, and more. This more personalized approach to education allows students to learn at their own pace, to adjust their curriculum based on their interests and strengths, and to gain hands-on, real-life experience on things they are truly passionate about.

The authentic voices of the happy homeschoolers featured in the film not only help refute common misconceptions about homeschooling, but also help parents become more confident about their ability to cultivate the love for learning. Parents are their children's first teachers and can be their best ones too! The Homeschool Awakening would be most inspiring and reassuring for parents who find formal education a poor fit for their children, but are not entirely sure if homeschooling offers a better alternative or how to make it work.
