My Review:
Pen Pal Gals: Friends Forever is a beautiful chapter book featuring a cheerful short story, full color illustrations and loveable lead characters. Reese loves to camp and celebrate the first week of each summer at Lake Shore Retreat with her family. This year, her camping trip turns out to be extra rewarding as she gets to meet her new best friend Addie, who happens to share a lot in common with Reese. The two have great fun together until the time has come to say goodbye. Unlike Reese, who visits the Lake Shore frequently, Addie lives too far away to be able to come here more than once a year. Reese can't bear the thought of having to lose such a precious friend! She suggests that they stay in touch by writing letters to each other. Will this long distance friendship work?
Through delightful descriptions of all the fun-filled moments the girls spend together, the book demonstrates the beauty of a cherishable friendship and teaches about how to make and keep friends that may last a lifetime. It shows how pen pals make it possible for friends living apart to stay close by heart. I know how much kids love to have something to look forward to in the mail. Communicating through letters also offers a fun way to practice penmanship and sharpen writing skills.
