My Review:
I Miss School is a short and stimulating read featuring a little girl sitting in front of her computer, thinking about all the people she misses meeting in person and all the fun things she could do at school. All the sentences in the story are simple and straightforward and start with the same words "I miss." Yet the reader can clearly sense the genuine and strong feelings underlying the text.
The illustrations are colorful, lively, and correspond closely to each thing the little girl misses about school while her facial expressions reveal how much joy she could have at school. I bet the book would resonate with most school-aged readers. I know my kids can hardly wait to go back to school. Since the book reminds us of the advantages of in-person learning over distance learning, it'd be perfect to read with your little ones if you'd like to get them ready for getting back to their brick-and-mortar school this fall.
About the Author:
Six-year-old Ryan Reaves began writing her debut story “I Miss School” at five years old after yearning to return to her brick-and-mortar school during the covid 19 pandemic. She wanted to write the book for other kids, so they knew they weren’t alone in their thoughts and feelings and that we are all in this together.
