Interactive and engaging, A New Friend for Dragon brings us an enchanting tale about friendship, diversity, kindness and courage. Meet Sir Fiero, the dashing new knight in town. Excited about the newcomer, Dragon invites him to a game of hide-and-seek but gets a firm "No" in return. Knights and dragons are polar opposites. Knights are supposed to slay dragons and rescue princesses. But what if all the princess wants is to play hide-and-seek with Dragon? What if it is the knight who needs rescuing?
Starting with a curious inquiry about the new character, the book draws young readers in right away. More questions and suggestions follow to keep them observing, thinking, and guessing. They are even invited to participate in amusing activities like winking and rolling their eyes alongside Dragon and her friends. During this fun-filled interactive reading experience, the little ones learn to make greetings, to create contrasts using opposite descriptions, to count from one to ten, and to become a master of hide-and-seek by using camouflage creatively.
Furthermore, the story gently asks us not to let stereotypes straitjacket our minds, and instead, to be more receptive to differences, changes, and new possibilities. While suggesting games as a great ice breaker, the tale attests to the old saying that a friend in need is a friend indeed. Dragon's kindness, open-mindedness, and bravery definitely make us love her even more!
Besides its amazing interactive features and uplifting messages, the book also charms its readers with humorous, whimsical and expressive artwork well suited for a fairy tale involving royalties. The colorful, detailed pictures make it easy to visualize the wonderful world Dragon lives in and to empathize with the characters as they experience different emotions.
