My Review:

With a creative spin to classic fairy tales, Little Red Driving Hood and the Three Repairs is an entertaining and educational story which stimulates discussions about passion, persistence and problem solving. Little Red loves assisting mom to fix cars in her auto repair shop and therefore gets nicknamed Little Red Driving Hood. One day, on her way to visiting Grandma, whose van needs to be repaired, Little Red first runs into Baby Wolf, whose ride-on car stops working, and then Mama Wolf, whose car refuses to start. Little Red volunteers to help out but ends up making things worse. Will the frustrated mechanic-in-training be able to calm down furious Papa Wolf by fixing his SUV?

By featuring female characters specializing in a typically male-dominated field, this story inspires young girls to shatter gender stereotypes and to pursue their passion in science, technology and engineering. It also teaches about kindness, perseverance in spite of failures and frustration, problem solving under pressure, and making best use of resources at hand.

Little Red's initial failed attempts, on the other hand, warn about the consequences of being overconfident. Besides, parents and educators may want to help their little ones point out the problems with Papa Wolf's behavior. For instance, it's not right to blame someone who offers help for being unsuccessful. It's unacceptable to force someone to help by threatening their life. As for the ending, I would like to add that in this particular line of work, hands-on experience, up-to-date knowledge and attention to details are as important as going by the book, if not more.

Overall, this is a short, fun read with a fresh take on the classics and unique messages.
