My Review:
Happenstance Farms: A New Home is a delightful read that holds great appeal to animal lovers. It follows a little girl named Savanna as she visits Happenstance Farms for the first time to meet the new trainer for her riding lessons. Although somewhat reluctant to leave the barn and trainer she's familiar with, Savanna learns to overcome her fear about the unknown and settle into the new environment, thanks to her encounter with the highly hospitable puppy Eli and reunion with her beloved pony Coffee. She also makes a new human friend who will join her adventure in the next book of the Happenstance Farms series.
While the story encourages young readers not to be afraid to try something new, I'm most impressed with the charming interaction between Savanna and her animal friends. It not only demonstrates the incredible soothing power of animals, but also teaches about the proper way to treat and communicate with animals. The illustrations in the book are simply amazing, featuring rich colors, serene and stunning landscape in the country, and cute characters with facial expressions and body language indicative of their feelings. The book would be great fun for little ones who love farm animals or who are curious about horse riding and training.

About the Author:
McMichael serves as the Senior Manager and Information Technology Business Partner for Training Solutions and Global Training Systems & Services in Boeing Global Services. She is a disabled veteran with more than 16 years of domestic and international experience in air traffic management and operations.
McMichael holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, a master’s certificate in project management, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southern Illinois University. She is a recipient of The Boeing Company CTO Technical Excellence Award, Women of Color in Technology “Rising Star” award, U.S. Air Force Air Traffic Training Achievement Award, and the International William A. Parenteau Memorial Award from the Air Traffic Control Association. McMichael serves on the Advisory Board of SSM St. Charles Health Center, and the Missouri Hunter Jumper Organization board.
