About the Book:
Sadie Sprocket is a girl with a big dream—to go to Mars! No one has been to Mars (yet!), so of course that’s where Sadie sets her sights. She learns everything she can about the planet and space, then assembles her crew of trusty stuffed animals. Together they build a rocket and prepare for the historic journey. And then finally—blastoff!
Sadie and her team make it to Mars, but what will they encounter when they leave the ship? And will they travel home safely as the world watches?
With cheery rhyming text and quirky artwork, this is a story about dreaming big and reaching for the stars. The book includes facts about Mars and women in space to inspire budding explorers everywhere.
My Review
Any young reader who loves space adventure and rockets would find this book fascinating. Sadie, the title character, is a little girl who loves everything about space and aims to become the first to visit Mars. To reach her goal, she conducts extensive research, makes a feasible plan and selects qualified astronaunts to join her crew. Off she goes to Mars in the fancy rocket she builds with her crew members! Will everything go smoothly as planned? What will she discover on Mars? Will she come back to Earth safely? You'll find the answers by keep reading the book, of course.
With rhyming text and rich colored illustrations, the book tells a fun-filled adventure story that inspires young readers to dream big, to follow their passion, and to take action toward their goal. By showing how Sadie prepares for her trip and how she copes with the unexpected circumstances during her adventure, the story teaches about planning, problem-solving, leadership and teamwork. It's a great book to read aloud. I wouldn't be surprised if your little one askes it to be read over and over again :)
