As soon as I read the synopsis, I knew it is a book that I have to read. Although I knew from the very beginning that Angela is the villain, Kaufman kept the suspense going so well that I couldn't put the book down with all the questions hovering in my mind: What exactly is Angela's secret agenda? Why is Jonathan all alone in the hospital? Who is the mystery visitor that the nurse suggests in the opening? Why is the book called One Last Lie? What is the last lie about?
Not only is the storyline captivating, but the book is also very well written, with vivid descriptions and an exquisite taste in interior design. While reading the book, it was fun trying to visualize what the characters and their homes look like. The love between Jonathan and Philip is so intense and touching that it is hard not to feel it from and between the lines. Even Angela earns my sympathy for her twisted and one-sided love, the driving force of all the disasters. Her double personality is well fleshed out in the book and keeps sending chills down my spine. The story made me feel sad and heartbroken, but I really enjoyed reading it. The ending is definitely a big surprise that is worth all the wait before reading through the entire book!
