I am already of member of Mamapedia and love searching it for advice. I couldn't figure out how to leave a question there so I just left one on the parent site, Mamasource.com, about my daughter and her horrible insomnia. I haven't received an answer yet.

the question I asked was when do i start potty training? There is no specific time to start toilet training. When your child begins to show interest in the potty is the best time to start talking to him/her about it. It should then just be a nice easy progression.

Good luck to you! amsbolda@hotmail.com

I became member. I asked them how they have time in blogging and discussing in forums. It's realy very hard for moms to get time to spend with the computer as moms are so responsible in each and everything to take care of kids, house chores and cleaning. To me, I want to learn from them as I dont have time for myself.

What do you think?

I asked for help and ideas for picky eaters.

Answers (which were really good) included:

Have children help in meal preparation.

Make a one bite rule, to at least make sure the child tries the food before he refuses it.

I asked how to get my kids to drink more water, and the responses were mainly how to get kids off juice, but I thought this comment was interesting: "in short - if you offer him only water, he WILL drink it when he gets thirsty. it's okay to drink other things too. my kids love gatorade's G2, it has only 25 calories for every 8 ozs! my kids don't LOVE water either.... good luck.. : -)"

I asked how to get my 3 year to sleep in her bed since she's now afraid of monsters in the dark. A few answers were to watch Monsters Inc., make up a monster repellant, leave a light on, clear away loose toys for lesser shadows..

I asked What is the best age to let girls begin dating and there were various answers but the general idea was to go with your instinct and ensure that you protect your daughter

I asked when to transition from a baby crib to a toddler bed and there were so many varied answers. Overall it seems to depend on the specific child because there were answers from 14 months to 3.5 years! Nice resource for parents.

I asked about helping young children who are having nightmares. There were a lot of answers. Two of my favorite were giving the child a squirt bottle of "Monster Spray" to make the room safe before going to bed or giving them some sort of "safe charm" they can rub or hold to make themselves safe (like a stone on a bracelet).

I asked about getting children to bed without a bottle.I liked the advice of Just putting water so she doesn't think its worth it to fight over the bottle.

I asked about giving a child under 2 a flu shot...here is my favorite answer...

May I suggest you read THE VACCINE BOOK by DR SEARS. It provides very informative information on each and every vaccinne. Ingredients, side effects etc..... This will allow you to make an informative decision on whether or not you feel your son needs the flu shot. I personally, do not want to give this particular shot to my son. My pediatrician, who is pro vaccine, said that the flu shot is given to children primarily to help protect the older generation from getting the flu. I dont know how accurate that is but I found it to be an interesting perspective.

I asked about relieving the itch from insect bites. There were a number of interesting home remedies but the consensus was that using Benadryl works best.
