Here's a video showing a Pampers-sponsored surprise baby shower for an expecting mom in Cleveland, Ohio. Besides lots of baby necessities, the lucky mom even received a brand new Dell laptop. Wow! I've also included below a couple pictures from the event.

ReplyDeleteI don’t have any friends or family who are currently pregnant, so I guess I would throw the shower for the next person I know that is! LOL I would make it memorable by NOT having any of those silly shower games, making it open to both genders to participate, making it a vegetarian pot luck, and having everyone fill out a note card with their best parenting advice on it for the parents to keep!

Although she's 17 she's trying her best to do what's right for the baby and is willing to step up to the plate. I'd use the card to purchase some Pampers diapers and supplies for games. I have a friend of mine who’s pregnant and a single mom like me, I’d throw her a baby shower. To make it memorable…hmmm well having a baby shower at all would be memorable for her, but I’d get one of those diaper cakes.
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure of the theme, I’d have to do some recon to find out what her thoughts are on the room design. I know the bedding she registered for has a zoo animal theme so something along those lines, I think.
I would also have all the attendees sign a calendar to volunteer once every other week for the first couple of months to do things for the new family - bring over a home cooked meal, an hour of housework, laundry help, even babysitting during the afternoon so mom can catch a nap. As a new mom, I appreciated those gestures a lot more than another hooded bath towel, or the latest diaper stacker.
I know she’d be touched by the gesture and very appreciative of the baby shower and gifts!
I’d throw the baby shower party for my sister in law (They're expecting the first blessing) and get everyone’s hubby and SO to participate. Men are usually excluded in the event, it would be interesting to see how they come up with shower gifts and have fun time chatting and playing games together.

ReplyDeleteI would do the shower for a young couple I know in which I was the official at their wedding. They really want to start a family but are a little tight right now. I would make it special by inviting friends and family from their wedding that really want to help and support them and have people but the very basic necessities like diapers and soap, etc

Her husband is currently unemployed, so I would ask the guests to focus on practical gifts (ones that she would have to buy anyway) and that way she can stop worrying about finances so much. I would throw a baby shower for my cousin, to make it over the top, I would plan all the games out. I would make sure everyone had a chance to play in some fun, maybe see who can change a babydoll the fastest, or who can drink a bottle the fastest, just fun games. Then I would make sure to have some baby foods to snacking on, mashed bananas, cheerios just a baby theme with a bunch of fun!

I would love to throw her a shower at a venue on or near the beach, baby sea animal themed (she loves the ocean, grew up on Catalina island so I think this would be a very special theme for her). I would use the money for decorations and a couple packs of diapers as well!
