Now living in a state known for its high gas prices, it's more important than ever for our family to save at the pump. That's why we love Safeway's Reward Points Program, which helps us save at least 10 cents per gallon when we shop for groceries each week at Vons, a Safeway affiliate in our area.

How it works: simple and straightforward!

*Every $1 spent on groceries and pharmacy items = 1 point
*Every $1 spent on qualifying gift cards = 4 points

Every 100 points gives you 10 cents off per gallon for a single fill-up at a Chevron, Texaco or Safeway gas station.
*100 points = 10¢ per gallon Reward
*200 points = 20¢ per gallon Reward
*500 points = 50¢ per gallon Reward
*1000 points = $1 per gallon Reward

That's right. You get rewarded for buying things you need on an everyday basis and even when you get a prescription filled! The more you shop at Safeway, the more you save on gas purchases! To start saving, the only thing you need is to sign up for a Safeway Club card. It's totally free. And you don't have to take the card with you if you link your card to your phone number!

What's better? You can quadruple your reward points when you buy gift cards at Safeway. Think gift cards are only for the holiday season? Think again! Gift cards can be used like cash at a department store, a restaurant or an online retailer that you frequent. For example, you will earn 200 points for a $50 gift card to Chili's. Safeway also runs periodic promotions that allow club members to earn extra reward points. During a promotion period, you can get 200 bonus points for spending just $50 in a single transaction. That's on top of the points you would normally earn from your purchases!

Safeway has partnered with Gift Card Mall to provide a large selection of gift cards from popular retailers. Safeway shoppers can check card balances, track spending, and consolidate gift cards with the free GoWallet service.

You may save up to 20% more on sale prices by setting up a "Just 4 U" account.
