Synopsis:
It’s AD 30 and everyone is expectantly awaiting the coming Messiah. While Jesus isn’t exactly what they imagined, there is something special about this man. Soon, John, James, Andrew, Peter, and their new friends begin to follow Jesus on an unexpected adventure. This beautiful, 2D-animated story of Jesus is told through the eyes of his beloved young friend, the Apostle John. From the beginning of Jesus’ ministry through his crucifixion and resurrection, LIGHT OF THE WORLD powerfully illustrates how Jesus of Nazareth changed the world forever and still changes lives today!
My Review:
Directed by Tom Bancroft (known for his work with Disney on The Lion King, Mulan, and Beauty and the Beast) and John Schafer (producer of the beloved program Superbook), Light of the World is an entertaining and heartwarming movie about faith, family, sacrifice and transformation. The film sets itself apart from other cinematic adaptations by retelling the classic story from a fresh point of view -- that of Jesus' Apostle John, who is a teenager raised in a fisherman family struggling to survive the Roman exploitation. Young viewers get to know Jesus through his friendship with John, the changes he brings to John's family and the miracles John witnesses.
The film does an amazing job of incorporating creative elements while staying faithful to the gospel. With lighthearted humor and honesty, it follows John's growth as a young Christian, as well as the conversion of his father. Along with John, children learn to understand why Jesus chooses to save his people with love, kindness and forgiveness instead of violence.
Beautifully made, Light of the World is a movie that the full family can enjoy on a big screen. Don't miss it while it plays in theaters. If you're going in a group of 10 or more people, you can get group tickets for just $7.50 a person!
In celebration of this new theatrical release, I have the pleasure of giving away a $10 Amazon gift card to a lucky reader of mine! All you need to do is fill out the entry form below. Good luck!
