Momfinitions

Every mom has a set of definitions that can't be looked up in Webster. ParentsConnect.com is calling all moms to help them compile their dictionary of funny Momfinitions.

Here are my top five entries:

Laptod noun.-A toddler who makes every effort to take over mommy's laptop. Tricks my little monkey loves include rapid blind typing on the keyboard, dragging the external mouse and pulling off the AC adapter.

Armplane noun.-The world's safest plane constructed with mommy's arms. This is my son's favorite personal aircraft, which gives him the thrill of flying! I, the pilot, am always rewarded with hearty giggles.

Tublet noun.-A bathtub that is accidentally yet conveniently turned into a toilet. The bathtub just came in handy when my toddler wanted to use the toilet towards the end of a warm bath. Tublet usually means an extra round of rinsing!

Peek-A-Poop noun.-A commonly used technique to detect the need for a diaper change. Whenever I'm hit by a strong and familiar odor, my first reaction will be to take a peek into my son's diaper to see if the bombs are dropped.

Finger Food noun. -Itsy bitsy chubby fingers that are self-served as a popular snack good for all occasions. "Luckily" for my son, he can always turn to his fingers when he runs out of things to chew on. He does less of it now than when he was an infant. Hopefully, his exclusive finger food will fall out of favor soon.

What do you think of my momfinitions? I'd love to read yours too!

  4. Funny! I need one similar to Peek-A-Poop except instead of peeking, it's when you put your nose right up there and take a big sniff!

I mostly do this with some bad words!! I will say something is a pain in my SRT.. no one understand me! They say What are you taking about.. SRT can also mean BUTT...

If I want to say Darn it.. .I will say Darla.. Why? I don't know?? I have done this with almost every BAD word..
    Very funny!!!!

    Thanks for a Laugh~~~~

  7. That's really cute. Kids love playing on the computer and they are fascinated by it.
It's always fun to make little kids feel like they're flying by throwing them in the air. They start to giggle uncontrollably.
I am more than familiar with the tublet. When I was really small, I pooped in the bathtub.

Haha your momfinitions are so true and funny!

  8. I love these - they are so funny! I just stopped by from SITS as well (I'm new!).

I think that my favorite of yours is peekapoop - I do that all.the.time - now I have a word for it.

My favorite that I use is criblet. We have our baby still (I know this is horrible) in the bassinet portion of the port a crib of our room - I call it her criblet.

Looking forward to getting to you know!

  9. This is a really good post. Your terms are very inventive. It really gets me thinking and wanting to come up with proper names for some of the quirky things our toddler does. How about...

Shambooboo - An injury that is faked for the purpose of gaining affectionate kisses to the "traumatized" area of the body (usually an arm or leg) and/or a band-aid (preferably with cartoon characters).

  21. These are too cute! I know I've heard many from my own kids, including the "Toot-bus" or toothbrush as WE call it, lol!
I always got a laugh when daughter would ask for her tootbus, it reminded me of a gassy school bus, lol!

  22. These are so cute and so true!

  23. Hmmm. How about finger painting? You know: what a 16mo does when he discovers he can get his hands in his diaper after a particularly messy poop. They don't come out of the womb pre-civilized, unfortunately.

I know of another woman who calls that constant pressure to be the perfect mother "ovarian guilt". Smart lady. Check her blog. Nine kids. She knows what's she's talking about. http://www.lifeinashoe.com

I'll noodle this one some more, for sure. I know I have lots of words for mommy stuff, but I can't remember them before breakfast.

    ReplyDelete

  60. I made up the word "delectual" while having a fight with my mom when I was a teenager. I think I was trying to tell her that she was being difficult and disagreeable and it ended up coming out as "You're soooo... soooo... DELECTUAL!"

I ended up naming my web design company Delectual Web Design.
